Webtech Wireless Announces New InterFleet Winter Contract

Vancouver, British Columbia - Webtech Wireless Inc.(TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, today announced that it has received an order to implement the InterFleet Winter Operations solution on 27 snowplows of the Grand Traverse County Road Commission (Michigan) fleet. This is the first InterFleet sale through an existing partnership with its major US mobility reseller.

With over 1,200 miles of roads to plow during the winter, the GTRC expects to use this InterFleet implementation to expand the capabilities of winter operations from the previous radio-based solution to an InterFleet GPS-based solution.

Prior to this, we had radio communications that allowed us to contact drivers on the road, but narrow-band radio communications only support four data ports and that isn’t as comprehensive as what the InterFleet GPS system provides. With the new InterFleet solution, there’s virtually no limit to the data you can gather. We expect the data we collect will result in reduced costs for material, fuel and overtime”, said Jerry Heim, Finance Director of the Grand Traverse County Road Commission (GTCRC).

With the InterFleet Winter Operations solution, the GTCRC will be able to track material usage (salt, sand, and liquid calcium chloride), vehicle engine data, respond to citizen inquiries with real-time information, and even redeploy vehicles as needed (such as requests to prioritize hazardous conditions and redeploy snow plows that complete their routes early). Also, a key differentiator for the GTCRC implementation is that InterFleet supports the largest number spreader controller integrations in the Winter Operations industry.

InterFleet® is a real-time Internet-based GPS/AVL fleet management solution, designed primarily for public sector fleets. Launched in 1998, InterFleet is the first Internet-based GPS/AVL application in North America to show a live map display of entire fleets.
