Kodak Demonstrates Advanced Security Solutions at High Security Printing Conference in Bogota
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Last month’s annual High Security Printing Conference in Bogota attracted a wide variety of attendees, all gathered to explore the challenges affecting central banks and government issuers in Latin America—and discover a host of innovative techniques and systems designed to address them. During the event, Kodak showcased its broad portfolio of solutions designed to help banks, government agencies, law enforcement agencies, printers, and other professionals ensure that printed products remain authentic, secure, and traceable.
The final day of the event featured a conference track focused on “The Digital Security Revolution,” which considered the impact of new digital technologies on the security landscape. Kodak’s Genaro Fernandez, International Director of Business Development Services, Enterprise Services and Solutions, presented a session entitled “A New Class of Overt and Covert Print Security Features.” In this session, Fernandez discussed Kodak’s portfolio of overt and covert print security ink technology that is enabled through continuous inkjet (CIJ) digital printing systems.
Representing a new approach to authentication countermeasures and track & trace systems, these new security features can be deployed onto various substrates to secure passports, licenses, vehicle registrations, ID Cards, tax stamps, and other important items. “By integrating modern CIJ capabilities with very robust clear or colored inks, providers can now deliver variable print functionality in both the visible and invisible spectrum, with embedded features that provide built-in authentication and enable tracking functionality,” explained Fernandez.
“Through the use of vision cameras configured with specialized illuminators and filters, and track & trace software, providers can now automate the process of covert print validation, serialization, aggregation, and global distribution of documents. This new technology can also be layered onto existing traditional commercial print security features such as holograms, taggants, and other security inks, providing even greater protection for banks, governments, and other document providers.”
More than 250 professionals from across Latin America attended the event, learning more about how Kodak can deliver new opportunities to enhance security for printed items. Attendees came to the Kodak booth to see real-life applications and speak with Kodak experts about solutions designed to meet their specific needs.
The next High Security Printing Conference will be held June 23-25, 2014 in Santiago, Chile. To learn more about Kodak’s security solutions portfolio, visit www.kodak.com/go/brandprotection.
