Sparkasse KölnBonn Selects NCR to Increase Availability and Security of its ATM Network

WEBWIRE

AUGSBURG - NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR), the global leader in consumer transaction technologies, today announced it has begun modernizing the ATM network of Sparkasse KölnBonn, the second largest savings bank and one of the largest regional financial institutes in Germany, with NCR SelfServ™ 26. The package of NCR’s most advanced cash dispense ATMs and an integrated anti-skimming solution, backed by NCR Second Line Maintenance (SLM) and installation services, offers a secure and reliable customer experience.

NCR’s experience as the market leader in ATMs, the performance and reliability of SelfServ ATMs and the integrated state-of-the-art anti-skimming solution convinced the savings bank to start installing 74 indoor/outdoor ATMs designed for locations with limited space. A unique self-healing technology allows the ATMs to automatically and quickly recover from “soft” failures with no need for service intervention, and an SLM of typical 4 hours response time ensure maximum uptime, thus increasing the return on investment of the ATM network.

NCR is responsible for the complete management of the replacement project including all appropriate construction. The advantage: NCR can pre-install the systems in the central warehouse of the bank, connect each of them to the data center, test and then deliver the already operational NCR SelfServ systems and install them on site. The time required for the software installation of the self-service systems, which normally takes three and a half hours, is reduced to only ten minutes, reducing downtime during the installation process. Furthermore, the promised fixed price for all goods and services delivered out of one hand enables the bank to calculate the exact costs. The entire replacement project will be completed by this autumn.

“We are delighted to have earned the trust of the second largest savings bank in Germany because of our innovative technology and excellent know-how. The savings bank and its customers will profit from maximum uptime and security thanks to our self-service systems and the services we provide,” said Harald Heinz, Area Industry Leader for Financal Services at NCR, responsible for the DACH region.
