NVIDIA Announces Fellowship Award Recipients at SIGGRAPH; Winners Selected By Chief Scientist David Kirk

SIGGRAPH 2006—BOSTON, MA—AUGUST 2, 2006—NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA), the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, today announced the recipients of the prestigious NVIDIA Fellowship award for the 2006-2007 academic year. The students were selected by a review committee headed by NVIDIA Chief Scientist David Kirk. The announcement was made at SIGGRAPH 2006, the 33rd International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques.

“The NVIDIA Fellowship award program is designed to stimulate and support excellence in graphics and computing research in universities worldwide and to promote communication between NVIDIA’s R&D team and outstanding students and professors,” said Mr. Kirk. “We believe this year’s recipients represent the best and most talented graduate students in the world.”

The recipients are: Tomas Akenine-Moller of Lund University, Sweden; Pravin Bhat of University of Washington; Tim Foley of Stanford University; Greg Johnson of University of Texas, Austin; Jaakko Lehtinen of Helsinki University of Technology; Brandon Lloyd of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; Philipp Michel of Carnegie Mellon University; Krzysztof Niski of Johns Hopkins University; Guillem Pratx of Stanford University; Wei Qiao of Purdue University; Jonathan Ragan-Kelley of Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Mathias Schott of University of Utah; Jay Edward Steele of Clemson University; and Huamin Wang of Georgia Institute of Technology.

Eligibility criteria included completion of the first year of Ph.D. level studies and a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, System Architecture, Electrical Engineering, or a related area. In addition, the student must hold a current membership on an active research team. Each winner receives a $25,000 grant.
