Microbusiness Owners Taking Calls in Toilets

70% of microbusiness owners admit to haven taken a business call in the toilet to avoid missing out on new business, according to research released today. 18% also say that they have taken a business call at a funeral, and 13% at a wedding.
The research was commissioned by Penelope, a call handling solution for small businesses, part of Moneypenny, the UK’s leading telephone answering service. It asked 2,000 microbusiness owners about their phone habits.

Small business respondents outlined that:
·        They receive upwards of 20 calls a day
·        9% of calls are new business enquiries  
·        They miss approximately seven calls a day
·        A new business lead is worth on average £102

These results demonstrate that microbusinesses are losing over £3,300 a year each through missed new business calls.
