Following their formal election at the recent 63rd FIFA Congress, the chairmen of the two chambers of the FIFA Ethics Committee, Hans Joachim Eckert (adjudicatory) and Michael J. Garcia (investigatory), together with their respective deputy chairmen, Alan Sullivan and Cornel Borbely, the chairman of the FIFA Audit and Compliance Committee Domenico Scala and the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee Claudio Sulser met yesterday, 11 July, at the Home of FIFA in Zurich.

The aim of the meeting was for the chairmen and their deputies to discuss a series of common topics such as the fight against match manipulation, and the value of the audit function in ensuring compliance with FIFA requirements and regulations. The group also discussed progress made over the past year in implementing the 2012 Ethics Code and next steps in that process.

After the meeting, the chairman of the Ethics Committee Investigatory Chamber Michael J. Garcia commented: "This meeting was following up on the recent formal elections of our Committees at the FIFA Congress. We went through topics that to some extent overlap our respective areas of responsibility so this meeting among all the Committees concerned was key to coordinating our efforts.

“For the Ethics Committee, it is another step forward to have the new independent deputies on board bringing with them such depth of background and experience.”
