GILLINGHAM, England and TROY, Mich., USA — Distracted driving is a significant problem that spans age, geography and culture. According to International Organisation for Road Accident Prevention, 90 percent of accidents are caused by driver error. This problem has been fuelled by the current consumer demand to be connected anytime and anywhere, including on the road.

At the 2013 IAA Frankfurt motor show, Germany (September 12-22), Delphi Automotive, PLC (NYSE: DLPH), will showcase its ’MyFi® Connecting with Safety’ concept car (Hall 5.1, Stand B06). This groundbreaking vehicle will demonstrate how infotainment technology and safety technology can work together to keep drivers and passenger connected safely.

Delphi will also present the latest technologies that help meet new Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating and enable the move towards autonomous driving. The company will also detail further information about the production launch of the world’s first integrated radar and vision data fusion system (RACam).

“Delphi’s goal is to help driver’s keep their eyes on the road, hands on the wheel, mind on the mission,” said Michael Gassen, President Delphi Europe, Middle-East and Africa. “MyFi, RACam and many other Delphi safety technologies work to do this while still allowing drivers to remain appropriately and safely connected.”

Delphi will also display its latest direct fuel injection systems for diesel and gasoline engines.

“By 2020, European emission standards will require that the average new cars emit no more than 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer compared to 130g/km in 2015, with similar requirements being legislated around in most regions of the world,” said Gassen. “Delphi’s direct fuel injection systems for diesel and gasoline engines can help OEMs meet these rigorous standards and enable them to provide greener and more fuel efficient vehicles without compromising performance.”

Delphi experts will be available for interviews during IAA. For more information, please contact a Delphi media relations contact.
