Marijuana has been used by nearly 100 million Americans, nearly a third of the current total 314 million. Currently more than 30% of Americans live in an area with some amount of marijuana decriminalization. The majority of Americans support the legalized use of marijuana for medical purposes and 18 states plus Washington, DC have already legalized medical marijuana.

Yet the plant known as Cannabis Sativa, commonly called marijuana, is still federally illegal to grow or use in the United States of America. Even as government officials in Washingon, DC are allowed to use medical marijuana for their ailments, they continue voting to keep marijuana federally illegal across the United States.

Grower Nebula Haze is an epilepsy patient in California who uses certain strains of medical marijuana to control and prevent seizures. She co-founded GrowWeedEasy.com with fellow grower Sirius Fourside to show other patients how to grow small amounts of medical marijuana at home. Together they run a weekly email newsletter which shares information and tutorials about growing marijuana.

Micro-grower “Ekrof” of SpaceBuckets.com recently published a step-by-step guide through the website and newsletter explaining how to build a DIY marijuana “Space Bucket.” These buckets allow patients to start growing medical marijuana for about $100.

Ekrof stated of his new invention, “As someone without a lot of room to grow, I found myself searching for a way to grow marijuana plants that was easy and could fit in my apartment. I began to experiment with growing in buckets. Space Buckets have proven to be an easy and inexpensive to set up while plants thrive. After I made my first space bucket, the rest was history. I’ve been building the Space Buckets community over the last year and I invite you to join us.”

Space Buckets include almost everything needed to nurture a young marijuana plant; just add soil, water and marijuana seeds. Ekrof includes information in his guide for optional extras such as a home-built LED grow light and an automatic watering system.

Nebula Haze said, “These buckets allow a medical marijuana patient to start growing small amounts of marijuana, about 20 grams - 1 ounce per bucket, in the privacy of their own home. Using and building a Space Bucket doesn’t take a lot of time, money, or effort, and these buckets are lowering the barrier of entry for home growers. Ekrof is really providing an invaluable service to the medical marijuana growing community, and he’s single-handedly reducing some of the suffering for patients around the world who are falling between the cracks in today’s current legalization situation.”
