Small Pet Select Announces New Timothy Pellet Product
Online Hay Supplier Expands Product Line to Include Timothy Based Pellets
Small Pet Select began selling timothy hay for small animals on their website back in September of 2012. It took some time for the business to grow especially since Small Pet Select sticks strictly to their online direct to consumer business model, however they have stayed persistent and methodical in acquiring customers for and have now built up a passionate and loyal following of small animal owners.
Ever since they launched their first product customers had been asking Small Pet Select to launch additional products. One of the most requested items was a timothy hay based pellet. Although this was always a part of the longer term plan, it has taken some time for this to develop especially because Small Pet Select wanted to make sure if they launched another product that it was of the highest quality possible.
After several months however, Small Pet Select has finally announced via their company blog that they will be launching their timothy pellets within the month of July. “We spent a lot of time working with nutritionists to develop this pellet, and we are very excited about making these available to our customers.” said co-owner William Gordon.
The pellet food will be timothy based and there will be two different mixes available. One is a food specifically formulated for rabbits, while the other is a food specifically formulated for guinea pigs. One of the main differences between the two is the guinea pig pellet is fortified with a stabilized form of vitamin c, while the rabbit pellet is not. This is because guinea pigs cannot produce their own vitamin c and so need to get it from an outside source. Both types of pellets will also be fortified with all the other essential vitamins and minerals that small animals need to stay healthy.
The addition of the pellets to the product lineup marks a major milestone for the company, as it will help complement their core hay product very nicely. Although grass hay is the most important part of a small animals diet (making up around 70%-80% of what they eat on a daily basis) there are vital vitamins and minerals that just aren’t available unless added in separately or supplemented with a fortified pellet. This made it difficult for some of Small Pet Select’s customers as they would have to purchase another brands pellet product separately. “It was absolutely essential for us to add a premium pellet product” Gordon explained. “This isn’t just another great product purchase from us, it was actually much more important than that. It will make us a more complete solution and destination for small animal owners seeking premium quality pet food”.
