Telstra today announced that it will license the Tradingpost brand to Unique Websites, which will run an enhanced local classifieds service for customers across the country.

Under the terms of the agreement, Unique Websites will assume all responsibility for operating Tradingpost, including all websites, sales, technical and infrastructure operations, from July 2013.

Unique Websites CEO Geoff Holmes said the agreement provides consumers and advertisers with a strong Australian alternative to overseas competitors in the local market.

“We’re excited to be working with Telstra to introduce Tradingpost to the next generation of Australians,” Mr Holmes said.

“The ‘EasyList’ platform we will use to power Tradingpost.com.au delivers the latest integrated advertising features and improved levels of security for both buyers and sellers.”

“Consumers now expect a more engaging online shopping experience, whilst advertisers are demanding simple but powerful tools to give usage and ROI insights. Our service will deliver that.”

Telstra Media Executive Director Mark Buckman said the partnership would deliver scale and growth opportunities to Tradingpost.

“Tradingpost remains an iconic classifieds brand that is important to many Australians, and that’s why we were so determined to identify a bright future for it as we streamline our advertising businesses,” Mr Buckman said.

“We are pleased to enter this partnership with Unique Websites, which is positive news for the local classifieds market.”
