AWARD software solution to support clinical services projects

QinetiQ Commerce Decisions, a leading provider of software and services to support procurement, is working with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to improve their supplier selection processes. The Trust will use QinetiQ Commerce Decisions’ AWARD® software to maximise efficiency savings when short listing bidders, whilst establishing a robust and effective best practice process. Using AWARD®, a collaborative web-based software solution designed to support strategic procurement projects, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust will be able to consolidate all the tender documentation from bidders into one location and assess them against a set of predetermined criteria. Use of AWARD® has been proven to shorten the time taken to conduct a project and to support an effective and robust selection process.

“University Hospital’s Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust chose to invest in the AWARD® tool to support all of our procurement opportunities. Like other public sector bodies we manage an array of procurement projects, each varying in size, complexity and process, involving a variety of stakeholders. It was important that we implemented a tool that was sophisticated and flexible to support our requirements, was easy to use and provided a robust audit trail while maximising the use of our resources”, said Clare Houghton, Interim Procurement Manager at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust employs 7,200 staff and is the leading university teaching hospital in the West Midlands. With firm annual savings objectives, the Trust is dedicated to supporting its procurement staff and ensuring that good relationships are achieved with its external suppliers. University Hospitals Birmingham is one of the most consistently high performing Trusts in the NHS and has been rated “excellent” for financial management and “excellent” for quality of clinical and non-clinical services by the Healthcare Commission.
