Stiltz Lifts moves to expanded manufacturing facility in China

Stiltz Lifts has more than doubled its manufacturing and warehouse space with a move to a new state-of-the-art facility in China.

The home lifts specialist was founded just two years ago and its headquarters is based in Wokingham, Berkshire. But rapid growth over that period means Stiltz Lifts has needed to expand its manufacturing facility in Kunshan, Suzhou in Eastern China. This region of Suzhou is often dubbed the ‘Venice of the East’.

Now Stiltz Lifts, which manufactures domestic lifts for the home, has moved to a 10,000-square-foot facility that has nine metre high ceilings. It means the new building, which is just three miles from its previous factor, is big enough to handle the company’s manufacturing and research and development department.

The extra height and implantation of a lift tower will give Stiltz Lifts the chance to continuously test and develop its innovative and unique through-floor lifts and work on introducing new products to the market.

Stiltz’ lifts can be fitted almost anywhere in the home and are powered by a simple normal 13-amp power socket like any other household appliance which uses less power than an electric kettle. The level-entry Stiltz Duo Lift was featured as part of the Ideal Home Show’s Home of the Future at Earl’s Court in London last year.

Stiltz Lifts Director of Operations, James Gillespie, manages the business in China, working closely with the Chinese team to ensure the quality of design and workmanship of the lifts are of the highest standards. Mr Gillespie, who has lived and worked in China for three years and is fluent in Mandarin, also handles all of Stiltz Lifts’ suppliers in Asia. He is joined in China by Director of Manufacturing, Peter Gillespie.

Stiltz Lifts Director of Business Development Lachlan Faulkner believes the move to the new manufacturing facility is another huge milestone for the company that has become one of the lifts industry’s market leaders.

No planning permission is needed for Stiltz lifts – just a standard building notice application. VAT exemption and grants from the Disabilities Facilities Grant are also available.
