The UK’s biggest amateur event, the Golf Care Matchplay Championship, will for the first-time in tournament history, provide live scoring from the Grand Final in Dubai. VPAR, a leader in interactive scoring technology, will supply leaderboards from The Els Club, offering friends and family back home the opportunity to follow the progress of their loved ones, despite them competing thousands of miles away. It will also keep the finalists themselves up-to-date with the action on the course, creating the type of atmosphere usually only found at professional golf events, where the players know exactly where they stand in the field and what they have to do to win. All of the scores will be updated on the Golf Care Matchplay Championship website www.matchplaychampionship.co.uk from Monday 13th – Wednesday 15th June.

“We’ve always said that the aim of the event is to give the amateur golfer in the UK the opportunity to compete in a professionally ran event. The addition of live scoring certainly helps in that respect and sets us apart from any other tournament in the country. It’s a brilliant way of keeping everybody, here and back home, fully up to speed,” noted John Woosey, Managing Director, Matchplay Championship. “This is the 10th anniversary of the event and I have no doubt that it will be a special occasion. We’ve got a world-class hotel, an immaculate championship golf course, a new title sponsor, and TV cameras to film all the action. The addition of live scoring is really the icing on the cake!”

After starting out in the first-round several months ago, forty finalists will descend on Dubai next week in the hotly-contested Men’s Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Men’s Singles events. They will stay in the stunning 5-star JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Hotel and compete over the world-renowned championship course at The Els Club. Adding to the unique feel of the event will be the TV cameras, which will be present throughout, as the event is due to be televised on Sky Sports in July. The competition will no doubt be fierce with the likes of defending Men’s Singles champion, Paul Llewellyn, hoping to retain his crown. There will be a host of new faces in the field though, which will make for an exciting and intriguing spectacle for all involved.

Entries are still open for the 2013/14 event, but close on 30th June, so golfers should enter now to avoid missing out on the opportunity next year. For more information or to enter, please visit www.matchplaychampionship.co.uk or http://www.golfcare.co.uk/
