Victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault are being given the chance to forget their trauma and heal with books.

Author Kailin Gow, a best-selling Indie author has been inspired to start a Book Club Sponsorship Program by donating a set of her newest adult book “The Protégé”, a fiction romantic thriller that has been dedicated to women and children of Domestic Abuse and Violence to a Wisconsin women’s shelter. The People Against A Violent Environment organization (PAVE) in Dodge County, Wisconsin provides much needed services to those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault through crisis services, community collaboration and prevention education. Their latest approach to instilling self-achievement, confidence and inspiration in their victims is with the start of a Book Club, which will be sponsored this month by Kailin Gow.

“Having personally volunteered at battered women’s shelters in the past, I understand how important it is for women and children of domestic abuse and violence to be able to find a positive form of mental and psychological escape, a mental vacation from reality. My books, provide this kind of fantasy-like escapism, but also seek to subtly empower the reader through providing characters that are relatable and going through struggles of their own but are able to find a way to overcome their struggles and circumstances”, says Author Kailin Gow. “The Protege has this positive message, if not in the first book, but in the series itself, as are many of my book series like The Frost Series, FADE Series, Wicked Woods Series, and more!”

“I am honored that Kailin Gow has selected our shelter to help me start a Book Club.  This magnificent donation for the woman we serve leaves me speechless.” says  Bobbi Jo Bentz, Case Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at PAVE, “This opportunity for the women will allow them an escape if only for a little while and be tool of empowerment.” As reader of many of Kailin Gow’s book series, Bobbi Jo knew her stories would instill the right message and inspiration to her clients. PAVE provides free services available to anyone who is a victim of domestic violence and/or sexual assault regardless of age, race, ethnicity, disability, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status or socioeconomic status.

Kailin says, “By providing positive female role models who are relatable and also going through struggles of their own in their own ways, I think real women who are readers can gain some kind of model of hope and inspiration from my books and series. I’ve worked with women of all ages throughout college and grad school, even as someone active in my community and society, and I’m a mom, a woman, wife, and daughter so I can relate to many women in many different stages and levels.”

Kailin Gow began writing fiction as a way to help girls and young women develop self-esteem and confidence.
