(FT. LAUDERDALE, FL) – March 12, 2013  Mayhem in the Mud™ (mayheminthemud.com), an 11+ mile mud run riddled with 20-25 gut wrenching obstacles, is proud to announce the Lone Survivor Foundation (LSF), a Houston-based non- profit organization that provides programs for wounded military service members and their families as the events’ beneficiary.

Known as the Event Built to Break You, Mayhem in the Mud will be hosting various events at some of the most Epic venues in the United States, such as the rugged terrain of the Georgia and Carolina mountains for the first two events scheduled in 2013.  These events will test your mind, body, and spirit like never before and focus on the bond of teamwork that is all too forgotten with many other individual races out there.

Additionally, Mayhem in the Mud will be donating $5.00 per registration as well as 50% of all Sponsorship costs raised going to the Lone Survivor Foundation.

“It is truly an honor to support the Lone Survivor Foundation,” said Mayhem in the Mud President and Founder D.J. Fairley.  “The Lone Survivor Foundation’s mission is something that is close to my heart, and I think it’s remarkable the amazing impact they have on the brave men, women, and their families as they return home from service.  Their efforts inspire me each and every day.”

The Lone Survivor Foundation was established in February 2010 by Retired U.S. Navy SEAL® and author of the New York Times Best Seller, The Lone Survivor, Marcus Luttrell. Marcus’ first- hand experience served as the catalyst for the formation of and vision of the Foundation to give back to those who serve our nation in combat.  LSF’s mission is to restore these families through holistic healing for a better quality of life after combat injuries.

Executive Director, Terry Jung said “LSF is excited that the Mayhem in the Mud team has selected LSF as the beneficiary of their events. It is great to see such a challenging event model, especially one that is inspired by Navy Seals training. We are looking forward to a long running relationship with Mayhem in the Mud and their support of our combat veterans – NEVER FORGET - NEVER QUIT!”

Mayhem in the Mud is now accepting registrations for their first two events located in Georgia on August 24 & 25, 2013, and the Carolinas on September 21 & 22, 2013.   Additional details can be found at mayheminthemud.com/all-events, and their will be a discount during registration for all active duty, retired, and reserve Military men and women.

Inspired by the grueling training of the U.S. Navy SEALS®, participants can expect to push through their fears and test their stamina over 12 foot high walls, crawl through suspended tubes, swim in ice cold water, and wade through mud as deep as 4 feet, and travel through a maze with too many surprises to list. Visit mayheminthemud.com/obstacles for a view into just a few of the many awesome challenges we will be throwing your way!
