V12.1 PC-Duo® for user support on virtual desktops

WEBWIRE

March 6th Atlanta GA, Montreal and Birmingham UK   Vector Networks announces VDI-compatibility of the long-standing PC-Duo® PC remote control tool.

PC-Duo already has a presence in thin client desktop support, through installation into Citrix and MS Terminal Services. With the announcement today, Vector completes its line-up of remote control support for Windows users on the full spectrum of conventional desktops, thin client devices and fully virtualized Windows desktops. The VDI implementation supports the full range of PC-Duo’s remote control features, including -

  • Multiple concurrent remote control connections to a virtual desktop. This is vital if support analysts are to be able to collaborate in resolving system or user issues.
  • Session recording and replay – including as Windows Media Format files.
  • Detailed activity logs available for audit and charge-back.
  • Convenient and secure firewall navigation.
  • Great ergonomics including multi-monitor support.
  • Encryption and SSL connections providing enterprise-grade security.

Daniel Martz, head of Customer Support at Vector’s Montreal office, and Technical Lead on PC-Duo, observes - “PC-Duo’s support for the Citrix and Terminal Services environments have been proven over the last two years in some testing situations such as 24x7 process control, and remote management of  servers on oil and gas pipeline monitoring stations. I’m pleased we have now rounded out this capability with support for full virtual desktops.

”Erick Yanez, Vector’s CEO, remarks – “The move to virtualization may remove a lot of the challenges of supporting a network of conventional desktops, but that still leaves the task of supporting users. For a help desk team working at full stretch to provide a quick and effective service, a remote control product such as PC-Duo is still a must-have. Anyone setting up or refreshing a helpdesk, even for conventional desktops, should future-proof their infrastructure by ensuring they can handle a virtualized environment.”
