In an NBC News exclusive series of reporting, correspondent Amna Nawaz will take viewers inside Pakistan to a dangerous part of the country most Americans have never seen before. Nawaz traveled into North Waziristan, where the U.S. launches more drone strikes than anywhere else in the world, to talk with military leaders and local residents about what life is like in the region.

Nawaz is the first foreign journalist to be granted access to the war-torn tribal agency, which is considered to be the nexus of militant groups like the Taliban, the Haqqani network, and Al Qaida, and where the Pakistan military continues its ten-year battle against terrorist forces. Her series of reports, “Inside Pakistan,” will begin Monday, March 4 across the platforms of NBC News, including “TODAY,” “NBC Nightly News,” MSNBC, and NBCNews.com.

Nawaz gives an unprecedented look at this region which is still considered a war zone, but where Pakistan’s military is now working to create a much needed infrastructure -- rebuilding schools and roads, and investing in tribal communities that have been disenfranchised for generations. Among her many interviews, she spoke with military commanders who for the first time openly discuss what it’s like to fight a war within their own borders. One military leader told her that while they’ve secured the area, they still carry out operations “almost daily,” acknowledging there’s no way to 100% wipe out the Taliban. Local residents say they’re concerned about a return to Taliban rule if the region isn’t stabilized.

Tune in for the full reports on Monday and follow Amna Nawaz on Twitter @Nawazistan.
