Global Awards Honor EMC Microsoft Practice for Excellence in Technology Innovation and Information Management

Hopkinton, Mass.-Thursday, July 20, 2006, EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, today announced that it has received three 2006 Microsoft Partner Program Awards for work done by the EMC Microsoft Practice. EMC was recognized among Microsoft’s top partners for delivering market-leading customer solutions built on Microsoft technology in the following categories: Business Process and Integration Solutions Technology Innovation Partner of the Year, Information Worker Solutions Award for Portals and Enterprise Content Management, and Regional Winning Customer Award for the U.S. The three awards stem from engagements completed by the Interlink Group, a U.S.-based services firm which was recently acquired by EMC to be part of the growing Microsoft Practice within EMC Global Services. These annual awards were presented at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference on July 12 in Boston.

Bart Hammond, Global Practice Lead for the EMC Microsoft Practice in the Western U.S. and former CEO of Interlink, said, “Whether we’re helping clients integrate their internal systems or automate their external business processes, it’s great to see these solutions not only produce results for the client but also be acknowledged as best practices in the industry.”

Awards were presented in a number of categories, with winners chosen from a pool of more than 2,300 entrants worldwide. EMC was recognized for its successful implementation of a Microsoft-based solution, versus utilizing the technology of other vendors, that resulted in significant benefits to customers. Award winners were required to have implemented solutions involving successful migrations, custom software development or completing customer upgrades that leverage Microsoft technology. Microsoft honored EMC in the following categories, each of which represents a particular business practice area or partner business model:

* Business Process and Integration Solutions Technology Innovation Partner of the Year Award recognizes EMC for best practices in selling and deploying business process management (BPM) and integration solutions. This award is intended for systems integrators, solution and service providers, and software developers that concentrate on enterprise application integration, business-to-business application integration, BPM and adapter development using Microsoft BizTalk® Server.
* The Information Worker Solutions Award for Portals and Enterprise Content Management recognizes solution providers that help customers increase service revenues, capitalize on new market opportunities and focus on high-value customer engagements via technology. EMC won this award by providing solutions built on familiar programs that enable their customers to better manage, prioritize and collaborate on increasing volumes of information.
* Regional Winning Customer Award recognizes partners’ successful implementations of solutions on the Microsoft platform that migrate customers from other vendors’ technologies to those from Microsoft. EMC won this year’s U.S. award by expertly developing customer solutions that exemplify the benefit of working on the Microsoft platform.

EMC won Microsoft’s Business Process and Integration Solutions Technology Innovation Partner of the Year Award for its work with TransCore, a provider of technology-based services and products that enable customers to efficiently manage ground transportation systems, assets and transactions. EMC supported the upgrade of TransCore’s customer relationship management environment and assisted in replacing its order-to-cash business solution with Microsoft’s BizTalk Server, a solution that promises greater flexibility, improved tools for monitoring and support, and a significant reduction in ongoing maintenance and support costs.

EMC clinched the Information Worker for Portals and Enterprise Content Management and Winning Customer in the United States awards through its work with Novellus, a leading provider of advanced process equipment for the global semiconductor industry. With the help of EMC Microsoft Practice, Novellus developed an end-to-end collaboration platform – using Microsoft SharePoint, Office, and K2.net – that seamlessly connects users, teams and knowledge. With it, the sales team can take advantage of relevant information across sales operations processes to help them work more efficiently, gain greater control and make decisions faster, resulting in a shorter time to delivery.

“The last year has been unparalleled in terms of the level of innovative solutions Microsoft partners have developed and delivered to our mutual customers,” said Allison Watson, Vice President of the Worldwide Partner Sales and Marketing Group at Microsoft. “EMC has set themselves apart from an extremely competitive field, and we applaud them for this well-deserved victory. Their achievement is exemplary of the kind of vision that will help take us beyond the solutions of today to realize the full potential of technology in business.”
