Newport Mazda unveils the exciting new Mazda6

Last weekend saw the grand unveiling of the sporty new Mazda6 in Newport, the latest production car from Mazda. Taking place over the 26-27th January, the launch party may have passed, but for those who still wish to try out this multiple award-winning family car, Newport Mazda are pleased to announce the addition of the 6 to their roster, available to test drive now.
 
The Mazda6 features a striking new design, created by the manufacturer’s “KODO – Soul of Motion” style ethos. Consisting of flowing lines and aggressively-styled headlamps, as well as an iconic front grille, the 6’s look is taken from the CX-5 SUV, a popular model in its own right. The KODO design will be the standard for future Mazda vehicles, and looking at the 6’s dynamic body shape, it’s easy to see why Mazda have taken this decision. The 6 also provides an even smoother ride than previous Mazda models, thanks to the lightweight materials used in its construction. Not only does this make the 6 faster, it also makes it more manoeuvrable.
 
On the inside, the Mazda6 is extremely spacious thanks to an ergonomically-redesigned cabin which allows the driver to be in control of all the main functions easily. Other interior touches such as backlit instruments and elegant upholstery contribute to a sense of luxury and sophisticated minimalism, which translates to comfort for both driver and passengers.
 
Safety is a high priority for the Mazda6: numerous safety features are to be found throughout the car, not least of which is the award-winning Rear Vehicle Monitoring System, which increases the driver’s awareness of other cars on the road. Fitted in conjunction with surrounding airbags and Smart City Brake Support, the end result is a car which has been awarded a five-star safety rating from EuroNCAP – the highest safety rating that the industry body bestows.
 
The 6’s range of engines are both fuel-efficient and powerful, with a choice of 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel and Mazda’s innovative new SKYACTIV fuel technology as standard across the range. SKYACTIV reduces CO2 emissions to just 108g/km (saloon version) and ensures a combined fuel consumption of 67.3mpg. Thanks to this, the Mazda6 has won the What Car? Car of the Year 2013 Ultra-low-carbon award before launch.
 
Despite this excellent fuel economy, however, the Mazda6 manages a top speed of up to 139mph, and 0-60mph in only 10.5 seconds. Regardless of whether motorists select the Saloon or Tourer version of the Mazda6, they’re guaranteed of stellar fuel economy and unrivalled power for a family car.
