Upgraded AT&T Network Enables Enterprise Security Firm to Thwart Network Disruptions

Atlanta, Georgia, July 17, 2006, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a three-year contract with Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS) to upgrade its network infrastructure.

ISS, a pre-emptive enterprise security firm, was an early adopter of AT&T’s Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology in 2004. The new contract will extend AT&T MPLS services to ISS locations throughout the U.S., Europe and the Asia Pacific region. ISS will further leverage the network upgrade to add more company locations in the coming years.

AT&T’s network upgrades provide ISS with disaster recovery services using the fastest and most advanced level of any-to-any mesh connectivity, ensuring that networks are not disrupted because of outages at centralized hubs.

“Internet Security Systems is in the business of protecting companies from any potential threat to their online operations,” said Helen Berg, chief information officer of Internet Security Systems. “In order to provide ISS customers with the pre-emptive security they expect, ISS’ business relies on the continuous network availability that AT&T network services provide. The combination of pre-emptive protection and unfaltering connectivity ensures that ISS can respond to any disruption — be it natural disasters, viruses or criminal hackers.”

By leveraging its upgraded AT&T MPLS network, ISS will also roll out Voice over IP (VoIP) capabilities across its global enterprise. As a result, ISS will be able to streamline internal voice communications and achieve maximum cost-efficiencies.

In addition, the renewed contract includes dedicated Internet, long distance and AT&T ultravailable local access services.
