Ericsson Ringback Tones music service launched by Digitel in Venezuela

July 17, 2006, Digitel has selected Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERICY) Personalized Greeting Service to launch its ringback tone music service “Music Ton” in its nationwide GSM network in Venezuela.

Ringback tones are songs or other sounds that replace the standard tone that callers hear as they wait for their call to be answered. Such entertainment and personalization services are highly popular with consumers around the world. Because ringback tones are integrated into the network, operators have complete control of the revenue stream while protecting the music industry, which receives royalties through licensing agreements.

As our ringback tone service is integrated into the network, Digitel can have complete control of their revenues.”
