Nissan Models at the Paris Motor Show

WEBWIRE

At the recent Paris Motor Show, Nissan revealed its latest brand of exciting models, from the PIVO 3 concept car to the performance-based 370Z and the Juke Nismo. Heading the line-up at the Paris Motor Show however, was the innovative and front-running TeRRA concept.

Taking inspiration from the sector-leading Nissan LEAF, the TeRRA is the next generation of zero-emissions mobility. The TeRRA copies the LEAF’s electric drive in the front wheels, while having a fuel-cell stack under the boot to drive the rear wheels – which have in-wheel motors. The TeRRA captures the Nissan mantra of putting ideas on the road and bringing the future through to today.

In keeping with the zero-emissions concept, the PIVO 3 concept car also made its European debut at the 2012 motor show. The PIVO 3 is fitted with practical technologies that include Automated Valet Parking and Robotic Agent Interface - a system that integrates the vehicle’s key technologies all within one interface. The PIVO 3 also includes an innovative technology that has the facility to feed stored electricity back into the power grid – so, with many electronic vehicles doing this in the future, the demand for electric power can be balanced.

The new Juke Nismo was announced as a performance-based production car. The interior has been furnished with a Norwegian wood-style look, with red stitching and suede trim on the go-faster seats. A removable and portable tablet acts as the car’s vehicle display, as well as displaying the navigation and in-car entertainment systems. Weight distribution and aerodynamics are also improved, thanks to the modified chassis. The 1.6-litre direct injection turbo petrol engine offers 200bhp and covers 0-62mph in 7.8 seconds.

The revised 370Z has received touch-ups on the interior and exterior, such as new daytime running LED lights to keep the car fresh. This new model is bulkier and more powerful in the frame, while still delivering performance of 328bhp and 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds through its 3.7-litre V6 engine. The 370Z is available in hard or soft top form, and costs under £30,000.

The popular Qashqai has a new 360 edition, and aims to continue bringing premium features to the crossover market – such as the Around View Monitor as standard. The new Qashqai comes in normal or Qashqai+2 edition with any of the engine or transmission combinations, such as the new 1.6-litre dCi engine that has CO2 emissions of just 119g/km.

Should you be looking for something that showcases contemporary style and culture, the new limited edition Nissan Juke Ministry of Sound has been announced. Available with any engine and transmission within the current range, the limited edition Juke comes with a Music Pack that includes an iPod Touch Complete, with a scratch shield case, Ministry of Sound headphones and a voucher to use in the store.

However, if you’re looking for something smaller, the Nissan Micra has continued its partnership with Elle magazine. The new Micra uses the Intelligent Key system for keyless entry and now has a more luxurious feel, thanks to the new panoramic roof and chrome details. This model is available in the standard 1.2-litre three cylinder engine or a 1.2-litre with a supercharged DIG-S engine.
