New Mazda 6 To launch early 2013

Due to arrive in UK showrooms in January 2013, the all-new Mazda 6 has been causing quite a stir in the motoring world.

Unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show this year, Mazda is back with the latest version of its 6 model, this time round with stunning efficiency figures and enhanced technology. Mazda claims that the 6 will be the most efficient car in its class on release – and they have the figures to back it up.

This exciting new model is all the better for being developed from the previous Mazda 6. The previous model was constructed from scratch, from the ground up, so each part worked in harmony with every other part. Mazda ensured that the car was built from high-quality, and affordable materials, and previous emission figures for the earlier model’s engine were also low within the segment.

As well as having a good base to build from, the new Mazda 6 features the new SKYACTIV body structure.  This enhances the car’s driving performance and gives you a better driving experience through ultra-high tensile steel reinforcements that improve the rigidity of the body structure by around 30 percent. What’s more, as well as being stronger, the lighter body shell in our new generation cars reduces the car’s overall weight. This results in a more agile vehicle to drive, enhanced driving dynamics and contributes to the overall improved efficiency.

The improved efficiency also comes from improvements made to the engine. Power options include the direct-injection SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre petrol engine offering high fuel economy. It’s available with a 145PS or 165PS power output. The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre has the world’s lowest compression ratio among diesel engines, with nimble acceleration that defies conventional diesel engines.

Available with either 150PS or 175PS, both versions offer the driver truly outstanding fuel economy and performance. With the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre and SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre you can have a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre petrol engine will return 72.4mpg and emit only 104g/km CO2 when mated to a manual gearbox, which will make it the most economical car in its class.

When it comes to technology, in its latest guise the Mazda 6 is better than ever. The enhanced stereo system incorporates six speakers and USB connection for playing music from a phone or music device. The Sport model boasts a premium Bose car stereo with 11 audiophile speakers as standard, whilst all models can play MP3 files via the USB connection or optional Bluetooth connectivity. Your phone, navigation, audio and cruise control can then be controlled from your Multi Commander and leather-wrapped steering wheel.  The system will even let you have your texts read out to you.

Mazda have announced prices will start from £19,595, meaning this great car in estate or sedan version is a real option for those looking at the high end of the supermini market – and without spending any more.
