Record Number of Tesco Stores Stage Midnight Openings for Black Ops II

WEBWIRE

Tesco is staging its biggest ever night of midnight events for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Gaming fans will be able to get their hands on the hotly anticipated special forces sequel at more than 600 stores when it’s released at midnight on the evening of Monday 12 November, with 150 extending their opening hours specially. Tesco will have more stores open at midnight than any other retailer.

The flagship Cheshunt Extra store is playing host to a monster truck kitted out with consoles which will offer gamers the chance to compete for Black Ops merchandise. Other stores will be doing giveaways and providing food and drink for fans who are queuing.

The certificate 18 game has already chalked up more pre-orders at Tesco than any other and is on course to be the biggest release of the year, eclipsing Fifa 13.

Nick Cooke, Tesco Buying Manager for Entertainment Games, said: “It’s been a big year for gaming releases and this is going to be a great climax. Thousands of gaming fans will be able to pick up Black Ops II the moment it’s released. We’re looking forward to a great atmosphere in stores up and down the country.”

ENDS

Events at Tesco Cheshunt Extra start at 9pm on Monday.
