06 July 2006, Eighteen open access journals published by BioMed Central have been added to Medscape Publishers’ Circle, BioMed Central announced today. Up to four clinically relevant articles will be selected per month from each journal and made accessible on Medscape from WebMD (www.medscape.com), providing physicians and other healthcare professionals with access to current research articles on biology and medicine.

The newly included BioMed Central journals are: BMC Family Practice, BMC Gastroenterology, BMC Health Services Research, BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, BMC Nephrology, BMC Neurology, BMC Nuclear Medicine, BMC Pediatrics, BMC Psychiatry, BMC Public Health, BMC Surgery, Comparative Hepatology, Harm Reduction Journal, Health and Quality of Life Outcomes, Human Resources for Health, International Journal of Health Geographics, Journal of Neuroinflammation, and Respiratory Research.

These journals join Arthritis Research & Therapy, Breast Cancer Research and Critical Care, also published by BioMed Central, which were already part of the Medscape Publishers’ Circle.

Medscape Publishers’ Circle is available free to registered users of Medscape. The collection includes a broad range of full-text material from prominent publishers including clinical journals, clinical reference books, professional periodicals, newsletters, searchable databases and self-tests.

BioMed Central Publisher Matthew Cockerill welcomed the news:

“We are delighted that Medscape has selected these titles for inclusion in their Publishers’ Circle. Medscape provides a vital service in alerting clinicians to the most important research, and being a part of Medscape Publishers’ Circle extends our reach to this key audience. The addition of new content from BioMed Central is good news for Medscape users.” BioMed Central is a leading publisher of peer-reviewed open access journals with over 150 titles in biology and medicine. All research articles are freely available online immediately on publication.
