Health Animation Start-Up Employs Big Bad Wolf to Blow Away Asthma

Health Nuts Media and Blausen Medical team to create asthma education app


Los Angeles, CA – October 10, 2012 Health Nuts Media ( and Blausen Medical ( have teamed up to create an interactive and entertaining health literacy app, “Huff & Puff: The Asthma App.” The app is designed to educate the more than 27 million American asthma sufferers about the importance of treatment and prevention. The companies are looking to crowdfund $90,000 via, the world’s largest self-serve open-funding platform.

“Millions of America’s kids can learn about physics from the Angry Bird app, but are still expected to retain information about chronic disease from paper pamphlets,” said Tim Jones, CEO and co-founder of Health Nuts Media. “We say, forget the old way of doing health education. If we’re going to improve health literacy in the U.S., we’ve got to use technology and make it entertaining.”
This is the first time the two companies have partnered on an app. Money generated from the crowdfunding campaign will go to creating three interactive games: Air Traffic Control, Trigger Finger, and Tic Tac Blo. Each game helps asthma sufferers better understand the causes of and treatments for asthma.
As of October 9, 2012, the campaign, titled, “The Best Asthma Education App in the World...Period!” had reached 20 percent of its crowdfunding goal, or more than $18,500. It was also a featured gaming campaign on the IndieGoGo website. The fund closes on October 30, 2012.
