Delta Makes History in Florida Again with New Service to Marathon

New service marks first commercial flights from Marathon to a city outside Florida, complements popular Delta service to Key West

MARATHON, Fla., July 6, 2006 – Delta Air Lines, Florida’s No. 1 airline in terms of passengers carried and destinations served, will make history in Florida again with the addition of new daily nonstop service between Marathon, Fla. and Atlanta, effective Nov. 16, 2006. Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines will operate the daily flights. The new service mirrors Delta’s historic decision to add nonstop flights between Key West and Atlanta in 2002, making Delta the only airline to offer nonstop service to the Florida Keys from a city outside of Florida.

“We’re excited to add our 18th Florida destination and strengthen Delta’s No. 1 position in the Sunshine State,” said Bob Cortelyou, Delta’s vice president – Network Analysis. “Through our global hub in Atlanta, Delta will provide passengers with convenient connecting opportunities to the popular Middle Keys, while giving Florida Keys residents multiple options for one-stop service to the world’s most popular business and leisure destinations.”

In total, Delta serves 242 nonstop destinations from Atlanta with more than 1,000 daily departures – more than any airline at any hub in the world. In addition to Marathon, Delta’s Florida service includes nonstop flights from: Daytona Beach; Fort Lauderdale; Fort Myers; Fort Walton Beach; Gainesville; Jacksonville; Key West; Melbourne; Miami; Orlando; Naples; Panama City; Pensacola; Sarasota; Tallahassee; Tampa and West Palm Beach.

Delta’s new service between Marathon and Atlanta will be operated using the comfortable, quiet 40-seat Bombardier regional jet.
