Discovery Communications Honored with Three News & Documentary Emmy® Awards

(Silver Spring, Md.) Discovery Communications accepted three Emmys Monday at the 33rd Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Awards. The awards included Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Cinematography – Documentary and Long Form; Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Graphic Design & Art Direction; and Outstanding Promotional Announcement: Episodic.

A perennial Emmy® winner, Discovery Channel received Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Cinematography – Documentary and Long Form for HUMAN PLANET, an awe-inspiring portrait of people’s incredible ability to adapt and survive in our planet’s most extreme environments.

Discovery Channel and Science Channel’s RISING: REBUILDING GROUND ZERO, which tells the story of the men and women determined to rebuild and restore the sacred site by constructing the new 104-story One World Trade Center, was honored with two Emmy® wins. These include Outstanding Individual Achievement in a Craft: Graphic Design & Art Direction for the ‘Stories from the Pile’ episode; and Outstanding Promotional Announcement: Episodic.

The 33nd Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards are a presentation of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Awards were presented on Monday, October 1 at a ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, located in the Time Warner Center in New York City.
