Improvements part of TELUS’ $7 million investment to expand its wireless network throughout Manitoba in 2012

Brandon, MB – TELUS announced today its 4G wireless service is now available in Brandon. Today’s announcement is part of the company’s $7 million capital investment to further expand and enhance its wireless service in Manitoba in 2012.

The new wireless coverage brings TELUS 4G speed and reliability to Brandon and the surrounding communities including Carberry, Austin and MacGregor. Manitoba’s 4G coverage is also available in and around Winnipeg, Highway 59 from Winnipeg to Victoria Beach, and Highway 1 from Winnipeg to Portage La Prairie on the way to Brandon. “Through the continued expansion of our network in Manitoba, we are able to provide even more customers with a new choice for their wireless service,” said Brent Johnston, vice-president of Mobility Solutions at TELUS. “TELUS is committed to providing our customers in Manitoba and across Canada the best wireless experience in urban and rural areas from coast to coast, and we are thrilled to offer our customers in Brandon access to our blazing fast 4G network.”

TELUS’ $7 million investment expands and enhances its state-of-the-art 4G wireless network – which now includes Brandon – offering manufacturers’ rated peak download speeds of up to 42 Mbps (with expected average speeds of 7 to 14 Mbps) and builds on the more than $700 million the company has invested in technology and operations in Manitoba since 2000. TELUS’ 4G wireless network now reaches about 73 per cent of Manitobans.

Since 2000, TELUS and our family of nearly 100 team members and retirees in Manitoba has donated more than $1.4 million and volunteered 1,000 hours with our hearts and our hands to community and charitable organizations including $49,000 to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation through TELUS’ Phones for Good campaign, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and the University of Manitoba.
