Consumer Group expresses concern for conditions at the Hotel Club Mac/Saturno/Jupiter/Marte in Alcudia, Majorca

HolidayTravelWatch has increasing concerns for holidaymakers who have either visited or are currently staying at the Club Mac Hotel in Alcudia in Majorca.  The hotel is a popular complex upon which there are believed to be 3 hotels; the Saturno, Jupiter and Marte. The Organisation has now heard in recent days from over 50 holidaymakers, allegedly affected by poor conditions and sickness at the hotel.  This is not the first time HolidayTravelWatch has received complaints from this hotel; the Organisation has been receiving complaints since 2000 from returning UK holidaymakers.  HolidayTravelWatch is concerned to hear within the current crop of complaints that diagnoses of actual and suspected Cryptosporidium has been made and that others are being treated for serious gastric illnesses.

In 2011, we received complaints in May, June & July.

During the 2012 holiday season, we have received complaints in July, August & September.

HolidayTravelWatch is concerned by what appears to be a repetition of complaints over several years.

Frank Brehany, the Consumer Director for HolidayTravelWatch states:

“As we have demonstrated, the complaints we have received over several years reveal the same theme; concern for health and safety - concern for the apparent wide-spread illness being suffered by holidaymakers”

He adds:

“It is vital that the tour operators and the hotelier take heed of what appears to be a litany of complaints year after year; I call upon them to take urgent action to identify sources that may be causing illness amongst holidaymakers, deal with those problems and restore confidence to this popular complex”.

He concludes:

“For those holidaymakers who have visited this complex and suffered such conditions or illness, it is vital that they seek medical assistance and provide a stool sample test to establish the cause of any illness.  It is clear, judging by the growing number of calls that we are receiving, that holidaymakers complaints are not being taken seriously.  If that is the case, there is regrettably only one way to deal with this issue and that is to contact HolidayTravelWatch and join the growing group of holidaymakers who are determined to seek compensation for their holiday experience!”
