Free Kindle Book on Public Speaking a Tribute to Toastmasters

With advice ranging from how to manage the fear of public speaking to how to tell compelling stories, this book gives new and experienced speakers practical suggestions on how to polish their presentations. Acronyms such as SHARP, LAF and SCREAM allow the reader to easily remember and implement strategies. The chapter on self-evaluation provides a step-by-step process for self-analysis of a speech.

“Becoming a better speaker doesn’t happen overnight. It’s an iterative process of modifying and improving capabilities through practice and application of knowledge,” says Windingland. “Even President John F. Kennedy was a terrible speaker at first. He was wooden and too serious. But fortunately, he worked at improving!”

Windingland, a Distinguished Toastmaster, suggests that people who don’t have much opportunity to practice speaking, visit a Toastmasters club (www.Toastmasters.org), where they can hone their skills in the supportive environment of peers. She ends the book with a chapter on her own Toastmaster testimonial, “Finding My Voice.”
