Munich, Jul 3, 2006, Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices launches the new global Gigaset SE565 Residential ADSL2+ Gateway, expanding the family portfolio of devices enabling smart connectivity for today’s digital home. The SE565 4-port wired gateway helps reduce service provider costs through extensive standards support such as XML-based TR-069 and TR-064, while enabling them to offer next-generation broadband services to their subscribers.

“Demand for sharing broadband access within the home is growing and is expected to reach 111 million worldwide households by 2007 and nearly 145 million by the end of 2010,” states Kurt Scherf , Vice President and Principal Analyst from Parks Associates. “As demand grows, providing a robust in-home connectivity solution is imperative for service provider deployment strategies.”

The Gigaset SE565 gateway provides full-featured routing, security, and four 10/100 Ethernet ports for LAN connectivity, one being a LAN/WAN port for a two-box solution. The gateway supports triple play services with advanced quality of service functionality, such as multiple PVC (Permanent Virtual Circuit) support and traffic shaping based on port, MAC, IP address or application. Like all Gigaset products, the gateway is also compliant with restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) regulations, making it environmentally friendly for global deployments.

“The fact that our products are standards based provides certain assurances to service providers about the function and interoperability ,” said Jochen Eickholt, CEO of Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices ”The new Gigaset SE565 gateway provides best-in-class home connectivity using standards to ensure mass market scalability for the service provider.”
