Capio starts the first European Work Council in healthcare services

Capio has signed the first European Work Council (EWC) agreement in the healthcare service sector in Europe. This strengthens Capio as an attractive employer. The EWC will provide a trans-national forum for information and consultation between the Representatives of corporate management and employee representatives of the Capio Group. The aim is that communication should be open, multidirectional and based on mutual respect.

Capio has accordingly to the European Directive 94/95 EC of 22 September 1994 and the Swedish Transposition Law nr 359 of 9 May 1996 been active in creating a European Work council in Capio. Representatives from France, England, Sweden, Norway and Denmark have been participating in the work that lead to a signed agreement in the end of June. Meetings will be held twice a year chaired by the CEO of Capio Group and cover trans-national issues as for instance the overall business performance and information about the Group, probable development of the business as well as probable trends of employment.

Kevin Thompson, Qualified assistant nurse at Capio S:t Görans Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, and employee representative in the Capio Board of Directors, represents The Swedish Municipal Workers’ Union says; “The European Work Council can contribute to that the employees in the Group gets more information, insight and can be part of the decision making process. This can in the long-run contribute to a development of Capio as well as for the employees”.
