Christchurch Life Coach and Author Shares With Others How to Rebuild after Christchurch Earthquake

WEBWIRE

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand September, 2012 – On February 22, 2011, Christchurch was struck by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake. The tragedy left 182 innocent people dead and a city severely damaged both physically and emotionally. On that fateful February day, local Christchurch life coach and entrepreneur Karen Scott was buried under the rubble of her Café with serious injuries. The impact on Karen’s life was threefold – her cafe and livelihood were gone, her financial situation had taken a quick and sharp turn for the worst, and Karen had to rebuild emotionally too.

Karen says when she realised this traumatic event had taken from her in seconds what she had earned over many years as an entrepreneur, small business owner, professional speaker, and life coach, she felt lost and wondered how she could go on. However, instead of being held back by the traumatic experience, this Christchurch life coach decided to search for ways to do things differently so that she could quickly recover from the financial loss and emotional struggle. Karen had spoken to many other quake survivors who were on the same path of struggling to make sense and struggling to fight back, so she decided to author a book about overcoming adversity, staying positive and regaining the vitality of life to encourage others to follow the positive path of rebuilding. www.kickstartlifecoach.co.nz/

The book, ‘Rising from the Rubble’, reveals Karen’s traumatic experience during the earthquake and also contains interviews with other inspiring people including entrepreneurs and athletes. Karen shares their story through her book to inspire and motivate others to overcome whatever adversity they may face.

Sir Peter Charles Leitch, KNZM, QSM met Karen several years ago when she was organising a fundraising campaign for someone with cancer. He says he was impressed with Karen’s community spirit and her tireless commitment to helping others. According to Sir Peter, the Founder of the Mad Butcher Chain, Karen is determined, inspirational, and has a real strength of character – and it shows in her achievements since rising from the rubble.

As a professional life coach operating in Christchurch, Karen is passionate about helping her clients to meet their own achievements and motivating them to live the life they truly want. She believes that “the most liberating thing you can do for yourself is to stretch and grow from experiences, your past is to learn from and to set challenges for yourself.”

Karen believes in being proactive with your own life – to plan for the future with your goals and dreams – and take the necessary action steps for achievement. This drive is what got Karen through her own traumatic experience, but she also stresses the importance of never forgetting to live everyday as you truly want to. Karen loves life and she encourages her clients to love every minute of it too. In March 2012, just over a year after the earthquake, this gifted Christchurch life coach earned a Global Publishing Group Achievement Award for Rising from the Rubble.
