VICTORIA, Australia September 2012 – Since its establishment in 2004, not-for-profit social education organisation Destination Dreaming has been providing Australian schools and universities with the opportunity to offer unique experiential learning and global citizenship programs. These unique opportunities began with Clint and Kate Miller’s vision to build a primary school in Fiji and educate youth from both countries in an unconventional way – one that relies on community building programs, self-awareness, critical thinking, and empathy. www.destinationdreaming.org.au.

Destination Dreaming’s first community learning for schools program partnered students from a remote school in the Fijian highlands with secondary students at a school on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, a relationship that has continued for over 6 years. Today, schools and universities from across Australia and the United Kingdom have partnered with Destination Dreaming to deliver intercultural, community engagement programs for hundreds of students, including school cultural immersion programs in Kenya, Timor Leste, the Northern Territory, Fiji and Samoa.

Kate Miller, Program Director of Destination Dreaming, recently visited Indonesia for a personal and professional journey. She stayed in Canggu, Bali, for 5 weeks and experienced an amazing adventure and cultural experience. Kate joined 34 participants from various countries such as Japan, America, Canada, and the United Kingdom for an intercultural yoga teacher training program, specialising in educating children and teenagers through experiential learning programs. www.destinationdreaming.org.au.

While marvelling at experiencing the little joys such as walking through rice paddies for class at sunrise or meditating on the beach at sunset, Kate also enjoyed fiery wok meals and enjoyed the waves of the beautiful beaches in Bali. The experience opened doors for personal development for Kate as she continues to develop global citizenship opportunities for young people within Australia and training programs for teachers at Destination Dreaming.

The experience and adventure that Kate enjoyed during the 5 weeks she stayed in Bali was the seed for the development of a brand new week-long program. The program focuses on incorporating the heart of Destination Dreaming- advancing Global Citizenship education - with  areas of individual and personal development including mental well-being, mindfulness, managing stress, and embracing individuality. Destination Dreaming continues to reach out to people by educating and enriching minds through a vast array of programs and strategies. To learn more, visit www.destinationdreaming.org.au
