Arkansas Middle School Disinfected Under Patho-Gen Abatement Platform

When illness struck Pulaski Heights Middle School last week, Patho-Gen was asked to disinfect the school. Patho-Gen, LLC uses an Abatement Platform which involves the assessment and then disinfection of high-contact surfaces such as desktops.

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – Pulaski Heights Middle School was formally disinfected under the Patho-Gen Abatement Platform this past weekend due to an unknown illness suspected in sickening more than one hundred students at the school. Communicable disease nurses and health department specialists are investigating the mystery illness according to multiple news services including FOX16.
The Patho-Gen Abatement Platform is a formal disinfecting concept where trained Public Health Technicians provide consulting and disinfecting services to public, commercial, and residential clients in the abatement of bacteria, viruses, fungi and algae, mold and mildew, allergens, and odor.

After consulting with school officials on Saturday technicians assessed surfaces throughout the school facility using the 3M™ Clean-Trace™ NG Luminometer, and 3M™ Clean-Trace™ Surface ATP Swabs. The 3M equipment is designed to test for adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which can accumulate in the form of residue and bio-film on high contact surfaces like doorknobs and desktops, and can consist of anything including finger prints, food, other organic debris, including disease.

According to the manufacturer, 3M, ATP is “[…] the universal energy molecule found in all animal, plant, bacteria, yeast and mold cells.” The 3M technology detects the presence of organic residues, in addition to microorganisms, which have been left on surfaces.

As part of 3M’s Clean-Trace Hygiene Management Solution (HMS), using the Clean Trace equipment helps assess standards of hygiene and the effectiveness of cleaning procedures by measuring the amount of ATP in a sample for a clearer picture of the hygienic status of surfaces and equipment, according to content and information found at 3m.com.1

Technicians spent the greater part of Saturday and Sunday testing and formally disinfecting with product territorially exclusive to the Patho-Gen, and calibrated equipment recognized within the industry in order to bring test results within acceptable measures.

“By testing surfaces in our environment, also know as ‘fomites,’ which are high-contact surfaces like door handles and railings, we can determine what an environment looks like numerically in terms of cleanliness,” said Mat Fitzgerald, the owner and consultant of Patho-Gen, LLC, a Houston-based business and formal disinfecting company in the Greater Houston area, and the Licensor for the Patho-Gen Abatement Platform that markets PRONTECH™ and TopSani® in Texas and Arkansas.  PRONTECH™ and TopSani® are products of United Promotions, Inc., of Atlanta.

Patho-Gen works with local business owners to put together an appropriate disinfecting program to meet that organization’s public health goals.

Our goal is work with organizations including school officials – primarily in a prevention capacity – under Patho-Gen’s “Partnership in Public Health” campaign.

“We offer a non-toxic, EPA-registered, U.S. patented molecule-based product for disinfecting – and odor control – yet Patho-Gen is not a cleaning service. At a substantial discount to outdated toxic and less effective disinfecting treatments our products are sold in granule form and when combined with water, are used for disinfecting with a handheld misting unit. Also, our hand sanitizer is offered in a 2, 8, or 32 oz. bottle, or wall dispenser (manual or touch-free),” according to Mat.

“What makes our products strikingly unique is the patented technology, mode of action, efficacy, low cost/high return, and residual effect,” says Mat.

PRONTECH™ is a non-toxic quaternary ammonium cation-based compound but unlike moderately safe first, second, and third-generation “quats,” PRONTECH™ is effective in the presence of organic matter, and has a tolerance level to work in hard water up to 550PPM of CaCO3. PRONTECH™ is a compound – a new patented molecule – that is both hydrophilic and lipophilic, having both an affinity for water, and is able to dissolve in lipids – oily organic compounds. This compound has a perfect orientation of the interfaces that make possible the destruction of the cytoplasmatic membrane of microorganisms. PRONTECH™ reduces 56% of water tension which allows it to penetrate surfaces rapidly and efficiently where other biocides are unable to reach. PRONTECH™ has a neutral pH; however, it can operate in a range of 3-11, and is 100% biodegradable in all sewage systems.

PRONTECH™ for misting fights against all known pathogenic microorganisms safely – and not with harsh chemicals – including bacteria, viruses, fungi and algae, mold and mildew, allergens, and odor. Without the exclusion of any known pathogen, pathogens cannot build up a resistance to PRONTECH™, which saves organizations time and money. PRONTECH™ can be used to disinfect laundry and food-preparation surfaces, and is so versatile it can be used to wash fruits and vegetables without follow-up rinsing; yet it also carries the industrial capacity to remove bio-film.

The Disinfector1 misting unit makes a non-toxic Ultra Low Volume disinfectant mist (ULV within 20 to 35 microns) so fine that it penetrates the nooks and crannies without moisture build-up. Safe on all surfaces, it will not damage equipment including electronic equipment, fabrics, upholstery, wallpaper, wood, or counter surfaces. It’s fast and easy, and can provide residual protection against harmful pathogens including odor for up to five days.

Also TopSani® being a non-alcohol-based hand sanitizer will not dry out a user’s hands. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers only kill pathogens and bacteria on contact if they work effectively at all, while TopSani® provides residual protection against harmful pathogens and bacteria for more than four hours.
