Toyota is a pioneer in the research into and production of hybrid vehicles, and the manufacturer recently unveiled the new Prius Plug-In, a development of the technology used in the base Prius model. It can be charged from a regular electrical socket, and is designed to complete smaller commutes without using petrol power at all. The Prius Plug-In is offered by Charles Hurst Toyota of Northern Ireland, the brand’s regional approved dealership.

Combining a 1.8-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, and a lithium ion battery that replaces the nickel-based battery in the base model, the Toyota Prius Plug-In’s economy grants it exemption from road tax and the London Congestion Charge. As a hybrid, it delivers outstanding fuel consumption of 134.5 MPG, and significantly reduced carbon emissions.

Several features from the base Prius model have been adapted and enhanced for the Plug-In, including the reworked suspension and bodywork details. The refinements that have been made to the vehicle have been designed to improve the driving experience, with reshaped headlights, built-in sat nav, and parking cameras.

A representative of Charles Hurst said “We’re immensely proud to stock the economical Toyota Prius Plug-In at our dealerships, as part of our aim to provide the best value to drivers, and we welcome all of our regional customers to the showroom.”

Charles Hurst has Toyota dealerships in Belfast and Newtownabbey, and is the largest provider of motoring solutions in Northern Ireland. As an authorised dealer for the Toyota brand, they have the new Toyota Prius Plug-In available for all customers. A full description and specifications for the hybrid vehicle can be found on their website.
