NEW SOUTH WALES, Australia July, 2012 – Founded in 1991, the Pepper Tree winery has grown into one of the jewels in the crown of Hunter Valley wine country. Since its creation, it has supplied Aussies with first class wines and is part of a quality food, wine and accommodation triumvirate comprising Peppers Convent, Roberts Restaurant, and Pepper Tree Wines with its surrounding landscaped gardens and vineyards. www.peppertreewines.com.au/

The popular boutique Cellar Door, one of the most popular boutique wineries in Hunter Valley, has been a regular winner in the tourism arena – complementing the Pepper Tree wine success on the show circuit. In 2011, the Cellar Door was awarded the coveted title of ‘Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year’ at the Hunter Valley Awards and Legends Dinner celebrating the hard work and dedication of the Pepper Tree Wines Cellar Door team to the brand and the passion they share for fine wine and the Hunter Valley region.

Owner and Managing Director John Davis, a former oil geologist says, “I used my geological knowledge to purchase select vineyard sites in four of Australia’s premium grape growing areas – the Hunter Valley & Orange in NSW, and Wrattonbully & Coonawarra in South Australia to ensure that every drop was grown in the finest soil Australia had to offer.”

“Each vineyard has been identified for growing certain grape varieties that are suited to certain aspects of each of the four areas, so our winemaking team can transfer the quality of fruit from the vine to the bottle and fully express each vineyard’s terroir throughout the range of premium multi regional wines produced,” says John.

The passion of the team is driven by Pepper Tree’s Chief Winemaker Jim Chatto, who was awarded the title of 2009 Hunter Valley Winemaker of the Year and has raised the brand’s profile on both national and international stages. In addition to this, Jim’s profile continues to grow as he has was recently appointed ‘Chairman of Judges’ at the 2012 Hunter Valley Wine Show and was also a finalist in the 2010 Gourmet Traveller Wine Winemaker of the Year.”

Pepper Tree currently produces more than forty thousand cases per year available at its boutique Cellar Door, specialty stores and fine restaurants throughout Australia and selected international markets.
