Free teleseminar to teach women college grads best practices for negotiating first salary
HILLSBORO, Ore. (June 19, 2012) - The recent failure of the Paycheck Fairness Act in the U.S. Senate shed new light on the pay gap between men and women. To educate women on how to successfully negotiate their first salary after graduating from college, female-centric career coach Zee Worstell is offering a free teleseminar, “Salary Negotiation for Recent Grads,” on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
Women still earn just 77 cents on the dollar compared to men. And the failure of many women to negotiate their salaries – especially early in their careers – is part of the problem, says Worstell.
“As children, we’re taught to be good girls,” says Worstell. “Part of being a ‘good girl’ usually means not asking for more than what you’re offered. And until women learn to let go of these deeply ingrained beliefs, we’re going to be playing catch-up to men in the workplace.”
