Jazz music guitarist, vocalist, World Music and Experimentalist Juancho Herrera - www.juanchoherrera.com – celebrates his new and self-produced recording, Banda, with a performance on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM at The Blue Note (www.BlueNote.net), 131 West 3rd Street, New York City. He will be appearing with his quartet including long-time collaborators Jorge Continentino, tenor and flutes; Gustavo Amarante (Toninho Horta), bass; Yayo Serka; (Lila Downs), drums. Admission is $29.50 and includes a copy of the new CD which highlights original and innovative compositions by Herrera, and is inspired by an urban, modern vision of Latin America deeply rooted in traditional sounds, evoking those of Africa and the Americas.

Juancho Herrera hails from Colombia and Venezuela. The guitarist / vocalist is one of the most energetic performers currently in the New York Latin American music scene. He has honed his skills for more than 20 years as a leader and as a sideman. A globetrotter who inspires audiences around the world, he has performed in over 34 countries around the globe in the most prestigious venues, including The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Shibuya Koukaido in Tokyo, Centro Cultural La Estancia in Caracas, Carnegie Hall in New York, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem, among many others.
