Beaconsfield Disaster Survivor Brant Webb Speaks on Mining Safety at the Surat Basin Energy and Mining Expo

WEBWIRE

QUEENSLAND, Australia May, 2012 – It’s the story that stopped the nation. Brant Webb was trapped for 14 days in claustrophobic and freezing conditions nearly a kilometre underground when the Beaconsfield mine collapsed on April 25, 2006.

Webb’s horrific experience led to his current dedication and commitment to workplace safety. In his role as Business Development Manager at BLH Safety Solutions, Webb aims to prevent injury to other miners.

That’s why, on June 20 this year, Webb will be sharing his incredible story at the Surat Basin Energy and Mining Expo’s new “Underground Luncheon”. The luncheon has an educational focus, with the three speakers talking out about mine safety, good ways to manage high resource sector incomes and physical fitness and wellbeing.

The event organiser Bob Carroll says new features such as the Underground Luncheon “not only provide numerous networking opportunities, but also allow both the exhibitors and visitors to gain more from the event and create a bit of excitement”.

Holly Grofski, herself a former mining insider, will be speaking alongside Webb about her journey from the brink of bankruptcy to her current role as CEO of Usher Wealth where she offers others in the resource sector advice on getting out of debt and maximising their high incomes. Holly overcame $150,000 worth of debt while working in the mines and perfecting the financial strategies she now teaches others who are working in the resource industry. www.usherwealth.com.au/

“Brant Webb is an inspiration to us all. His story is one of bravery and survival and I am very proud to be standing alongside him,” says Ms Grofski, who is fast becoming one of the most sought after resource sector financial planners in the Australian resource industry.

Usher Wealth, financial advisors specifically for people working in the resource industry, are sponsoring the Underground Luncheon. Ms Grofski said Usher Wealth were involved with the new Underground Luncheon because of its focus on educating miners. “Usher Wealth is dedicated to financial education and teaching the resource sector how to handle their high incomes so that the returns continue long after their resource sector career ends,” explains Ms Grofski.

The Underground Luncheon begins at 12pm and is open to both exhibitors and registered visitors. To register for the luncheon, which includes a two course meal and beverages, visit www.usherwealth.com.au/.
