360 Diversity Supports President Obama’s U-Turn on Same-Sex Marriage

With the US Presidential election really hotting up, equality promoters, 360 Diversity have expressed their support for Obama’s apparent U-Turn on same-sex marriage laws. This support for gay marriage should, hopefully, give all couples the same rights when it comes to tying the knot.
 
The USA is perhaps one of the least gay-friendly countries in the Western World. Until recently, national and state politics have reflected this. But Obama’s new stance, will hopefully transform the perceptions of the country.
 
Business Development Manager Stuart Bray says:
 
“We are very pleased that President Obama has finally announced support for gay marriage. Everyone should be entitled to equality, and the gay marriage would extend this right. It is all about freedom of choice, and backing by Obama will give great weight in the USA for change.”
 
Same-sex marriage is currently recognised in a handful of US states including Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. Many however, 360 Diversity included, fear that this move is “too little, too late.”
 
With President Obama nearing the end of his term in office, critics have claimed that this is, perhaps, a last ditch attempt to win votes. In particular, many religious groups in the US oppose the move. This has the potential to seriously hinder any moves towards marriage equality for all American citizens.
 
Stuart concludes:
 
“There are still concerns by religious institutes that do not agree with gay marriage, however, here are sufficient establishments that would be happy to either offer a civil marriage or religious celebration for that not to be an obstacle. Perhaps 360 Diversity will hold fire before buying new hats for weddings.”
 
360 Diversity has, and will continue to, campaign tirelessly for equality and diversity for everyone in the UK- whether that is marriage equality, workplace diversity, or representation in the media. It remains to be seen what the outcome of this US law will be, but it is hoped the effects are mainly positive.
