LePort Opens Montessori Summer Camp To Outside Students

IRVINE, California, May 16, 2012 – LePort Schools is opening its Montessori summer camp program in Irvine and Huntington Beach to outside students. Taught by experienced Montessori preschool and elementary teachers, LePort Montessori summer camp offers families the opportunity to try out Montessori preschool or elementary in a fun, relaxed way.

“Many parents have heard of Montessori preschool, but aren’t really sure what Montessori really is,” says Heike Larson, Vice President of Outreach. “When parents visit our Montessori preschools, they are curious to learn more, to try it out for their child. The Montessori summer camp program offers the opportunity to do just that. And at our two campuses in Huntington Beach, as well at our Irvine Lake campus, parents can continue to enroll for the school year programs, if they like their summer experience. The other three Irvine campuses are currently full, but we’d be happy to place families on our waitlists.”

As recently as a few summers ago, the LePort preschool summer camp program was available only to LePort students. The program is now open to outside preschool and elementary campers; they will get to experience an authentic Montessori preschool class, as well as lots of summer fun. “I am very excited about our new summer program. We will run our Montessori preschool and elementary program throughout the summer, with the same highly-trained, experienced Montessori teachers, not temporary camp counselors,” explains Lindsay Journo, Vice President of Academics. “Our bi-weekly themes, from America the Beautiful to Rainforests, are integrated into the Montessori environment, as is the bi-weekly sports activity. Because many of our current Montessori preschool and elementary students also attend summer camp, summer campers will get to experience a real Montessori class, in addition to having a fun summer experience.”

Summer camp enrollment is now open to toddlers (18 months – 3 years), preschool aged children (3 -6 years) and elementary school students (1st – 3rd grade), including students not currently enrolled at LePort Schools. Outside students can enroll for three or more weeks, and the summer camp runs from June 25th to August 24th, at five campuses in Irvine and Huntington Beach.
