Theddlethorpe’s Answer to the ‘Big Society’

WEBWIRE

The “Spirit of the Marsh Weekend”.

The Spirit of the Marsh is providing a whole Weekend Celebrating the Talents, Knowledge and Energy of the Lincolnshire region at Arklow House Farm, in the village of Theddlethorpe. 20th, 21st and & 22nd July 2012.

Here, ordinary people have freely given up their time and energy to present a whole weekend of fun.
The Committee are grateful for the support & expertise they have are received from so many private individuals & organisations from all corners of the community and from all sectors too, private, public and voluntary, who have come together to make this a spectacular weekend. There is something here for everyone, families, the young, pensioners and disabled people to enjoy.

This project has been continued from last year, when Spirit of the Marsh received no direct government funding, a deliberate move to show the sense of community pride, that has created a support network and allowed the events team to put on this wonderful spectacle that celebrates the talents, knowledge and energy that is available along this part of the East Coast, One that is often overlooked, yet full of hidden Gems!
.

The Spirit of the Marsh Festival has been fortunate enough to win Funding via. Village S.O.S. and the Big Lottery Fund this year, which will, in turn, also provide Theddlethorpe with much needed funds to supply further opportunities to support and facilitate activities in their surrounding community, on a sustainable basis, that compliments the achievements being strived for by its nearest town, Mablethorpe, a place for entertainment, culture, sports and community activities. As well as instilling a sense of pride into a hub of the east coast, which is often neglected, compared to its neighbouring regions, the other side of the Humber and south of Skegness.

Below is just a taster of what expect at Arklow House Farm-Theddlethorpe, Centre of the Spirit of the Marsh Festival 2012.
