Firewall/VPN, IDP, SSL VPN and Application Acceleration Technologies Ensure Comprehensive Delivery, Use and Threat Control Across Distributed Network

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 19, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that the Methodist Hospital System has deployed the Juniper Networks firewall/virtual private network (VPN) and intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) appliances to secure and assure network access for doctors and administrators across four hospitals and two educational institutions. To complement this deployment, Juniper Networks Secure Access SSL VPN and DX-series data center acceleration appliances are installed for high-performance remote access and Web delivery control of data traversing the network.

“We have always found Juniper Networks to be the best choice in terms of product reliability, ease of deployment, maintenance and customer support,” said Keith Fontenot, security analyst of IT security services for Methodist Hospital System. “Juniper Networks’ portfolio of products enables us to take a proactive and comprehensive approach to network security, access control and Web application delivery. One of the best things about the Juniper Networks IDP is that it automatically responds to and eliminates network attacks, reducing the impact of an attack and saving us from recovery time and expense.”

Located in the main hospital to protect the medical, billing and patient tracking systems against attack, is the Juniper Networks IDP-500. Using industry recognized stateful detection and prevention techniques, the IDP provides zero day protection against worms, trojans, spyware, keyloggers and other malware, detecting and dropping malicious attacks in real-time while minimizing the time and expense associated with intrusion recovery.

A number of Juniper Networks firewall/IPSec VPN appliances are deployed for hospital and university access to the hospital system’s network. The Juniper Networks ISG 2000 and Juniper Networks NetScreen-500 appliances provide security and site-to-site access to four hospitals and two universities as well as vendors who do business with the Methodist Hospital System - the NetScreen-500 also serves as a way for some smaller remote sites to securely access the system. The Methodist IT department relies on NetScreen-50 appliances to maintain a separate VPN for the hospital’s Website and the Juniper Networks NetScreen-5GT and NetScreen-5XT appliances for smaller sites within the Hospital network.

In addition, the Methodist Hospital System has added a number of new, Juniper Network SA 5000 SSL VPNs and DX 3650 application acceleration appliances to provide an even greater amount of use and delivery control over remote access to the hospitals intranet. The SSL VPNs allow remote users to access the network in a secure dual authenticated manner granting them access to important data anytime anywhere from any computer with a standard Internet browser. Together the SSL VPN and application acceleration appliances make remote access seamless, allowing access to large files and advanced features such as voice, while minimizing packet latency.
