Roaming costs almost the same as domestic calls with "Vodafone Passport"

Düsseldorf, the long-awaited holiday season is almost upon us again. And sending greetings to friends and loved ones back home is still a big trend. Today’s mobile generation uses a mobile phone to call home when they are on holiday and Vodafone customers have been taking advantage of low-cost roaming calls for almost a year now. Vodafone’s innovative roaming tariff negates the widespread theory that mobile calls outside Germany are expensive.

“Vodafone Passport” is a low-cost roaming service that Vodafone introduced for its customers back in summer 2005. It works according to a very simple concept: Vodafone customers can talk when they’re abroad on the same price plan that they have at home.

It’s simple and transparent. The cost per minute of standard calls from Vodafone networks abroad where Vodafone Passport can be used are the same as the cost per minute of calls at home, plus EUR 0.75 for each outgoing call. Incoming calls are inexpensive, too. Each incoming call of up to 60 minutes in length only costs the receiver EUR 0.75. What’s more, the free talktime that comes with the Vodafone Per-Minute Package can also be used in the Vodafone networks abroad for Vodafone Passport. In this case, calls only cost the user EUR 0.75.

All customers have to do to take advantage of these cost benefits is to book the option by dialling 12225 on a Vodafone mobile phone or by contacting their customer adviser. You’re just one call away from a holiday without the worry of high phone bills. Vodafone customers don’t pay an extra cent for the “Vodafone Passport”. Vodafone aims to reduce roaming costs by 40% by April 2007, and “Vodafone Passport” is preparing the way by introducing transparency and lower rates. Vodafone Passport helps you to keep your holiday expenses down and there are no nasty surprises when you open your phone bill back at home. Vodafone customers who travel frequently appreciate the opportunity to make longish international calls without having to worry about the costs.

For example, if calls cost EUR 0.20 a minute at the customer’s domestic tariff, he only pays EUR 1.75 for a ten-minute call from Spain to Germany. At the standard Vodafone roaming tariff, Vodafone World, this call would cost EUR 4.45. A customer in Spain who receives a ten-minute incoming call on his mobile only pays EUR 0.75.

Thanks to Vodafone’s international presence, Vodafone Passport is already available in 20 countries and it can be booked by both contract customers and prepaid customers.
