Cross-country Skiing
In and around Delafield, there are four cross-country ski venues that offer fun trails through woods and other natural settings. Call ahead for trail conditions.
 
Just 5 minutes from Downtown Delafield, the Lapham Peak Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest offers 17 miles of cross-country ski trails including a lit 2.5-mile loop for evening skiing under crisp winter skies. Lapham Peak makes it’s own snow for the looped trail to enhance skiing conditions. Skis rentals are available on weekends, making this an excellent venue for beginners who want to try the sport. The Lake Country Recreational Trail, created out of the former Milwaukee-Watertown Interurban Railway bed, offers 13-miles of cross country skiing. Start at the Delafield trailhead at Cushing Park in the City of Delafield and head 8 miles east towards the Landsberg Center trailhead in the City of Waukesha or 5 miles west toward the City of Oconomowoc.

Snowshoeing, Snowmobiling, Ice Skating
Lapham Peak, in addition to its extensive cross-country ski trails, offers snowshoe and even dog sledding trails! Snowmobiling trails cross numerous lakes and highways, and run along the Glacial Drumlin Trail, which passes through Delafield. For those who prefer to stay indoors, they can lace up a pair of ice skates during open skate times at the Olympic sized Nagawicka Ice Arena, or discover the sport of curling at the Kettle Moraine Curling Club.
