Atlanta Legal Nurse Consultant Recommends “Avoiding Medical Malpractice Lawsuits: Be Proactive, Not Reactive“

WEBWIRE

Atlanta, Georgia -- Atlanta legal nurse consultant Liz Buddenhagen highly recommends “Avoiding Medical Malpractice Lawsuits: Be Proactive, Not Reactive” for all healthcare providers, especially physicians and nurses.

About the conference:
This all day medical legal conference will take place in Augusta, Georgia at the prestigious Pinnacle Club and is presented by the Greater Augusta Chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (GA AALNC). It will run from 8 AM to 4 PM on March 1, 2012, Thursday and include a continental breakfast and lunch.

“The conference will be top notch,” says Buddenhagen. “We have an excellent line up of qualified speakers.” Gyalia Rutledge, an experienced emergency room nurse and Augusta legal nurse consultant, will start off with “Risk Management for the Physician Office” and highlight areas where physician office practices can be vulnerable to poor patient outcomes and exposure to lawsuits.

Phillip Coule, MD, an Augusta emergency room doctor, will discuss “Physician Documentation.” “Frequently medical legal seminars address nursing documentation but not so much on physician documentation,” the Atlanta legal nurse points out.

Buddenhagen, a thirty year hospital nurse including neonatal and adult critical care and Atlanta legal nurse, will follow with “What Plaintiff Attorneys are Looking for in the Medical Record.”

F. Michael Taylor, attorney with Hull Barrett, PC in Augusta, will go over “What Defense Attorneys are Looking for in the Medical Record.”

James V. Painter will speak about “Deposition Preparation” for medical professionals who may be deposed in a legal proceeding. Painter is an Augusta attorney with Hull Barrett, PC.

A “Mock Trial” will wrap up the day with attorneys Taylor and Painter leading the plaintiff and defense sides. “We are proud to be able to provide this seminar to the Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina medical communities,” Buddenhagen said.

Nursing continuing education contact hours are available and CMEs and CEUs for other healthcare providers such as pharmacists, physical therapists and social workers have been applied for. The Greater Augusta AALNC is also welcoming medical office administrators, health information management, risk managers, dentists and any medically related providers.
