New Gluten-Free Bakery in Columbia, MO

Mary Manulik announces the launch of a new gluten free bakery in Columbia, MO  called Senza Gluten Free Foods.  The home-based business in Columbia, MO offers fresh, made-from-scratch gluten-free breads, cookies, cakes, pies and much more. Senza means “without” in Italian. It does not mean “without taste” in this case but rather “without gluten.”  As Manulik asserts, gluten free foods can be tasty as well as safe for people who cannot tolerate gluten.

“I’ve been doing gluten-free baking since 1993, when my husband was diagnosed with celiac disease.  I want to share the gluten-free desserts I’ve  prepared with people who are new to celiac disease and don’t know where to begin, their friends who want to invite them to dinner but don’t know what to make, or celiacs who don’t have the time to prepare homemade treats for themselves" said Manulik.

Although gluten-free baked goods are sometimes offered in grocery or health food stores, Manulik saw a local demand for fresh-baked gluten-free desserts without preservatives. She is also very aware of the issue of cross-contamination, which can happen with dangerous results.  To this end, she maintains separate cooking and baking pans, utensils, counter-top appliances, and work surfaces in her house.  Anyone mixing wheat flour has to work on a counter in the garage, since flour can stay in the air for hours and contaminate other surfaces.
