Atlanta, Georgia -- Atlanta legal nurse consultant Liz Buddenhagen, registered nurse, says the four hour online conference presented by Greater Augusta AALNC was fabulous. “Four hours of top notch talks by  legal nurses and life care planners made this an event not to be missed,” she said.

About the conference:
Victoria Powell of Little Rock, Arkansas started up the conference with “The Mobile Office.” Powell travels a good  bit as a life care planner and doesn’t miss a business beat. Powell frequently engages a driver and continues business from the passenger or back seat. Powell worked her abundant power to simplify complex technology for the eager legal nurses who need every bit of it to stay competitive in their field. Powell also covered Cloud Computing: “not a fad, here to stay.” Discussion on current smart phone uses wrapped up a fast two hours.

Susie McGregor-Huyer of Mahtomedi , Wisconsin, stepped in and took the legal nurses on a rapid fire rendition of how to speed work product in an electronic medical record world. Many attorneys are scanning medical records, and sending them to nurse consultants electronically.

McGregor-Huyer explained how to organize the records electronically using Adobe Pro. Organizing the records prior to sending to an expert witness can save the attorney thousands of dollars. Poorly organized records take much longer for experts to find the pertinent information they need to give an accurate opinion regarding standards of care and causation.

Shelene Giles of FIG Services in Hendersonville, North Carolina followed up with explanation of what Medicare Set-Asides are, how they are created and why. Giles discussed medical cost projections, also known as future medical assessments, and Life Care Planning.

Giles is experienced in and teaches Life Care Planning, Medicare Set-Aside Allocation and Medical Cost Projection. When Giles teaches Medicare Set-Aside Allocation, she has legal nurse students create a Medicare Set-Aside Allocation and provides support to the students post course.
